My Journey in Technical Drawing
and CAD Services

Simon Little Profile picture

My career began back in 1982, working the traditional way — on drawing boards with pencils and drafting tools. My first role was creating detailed technical drawings for a company contracted by London Underground, producing working drawings for vitreous enamel panels installed across tube stations in London.

A lot has changed since those early days.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients and industries, including:

  • Design & Build (D&B) contractors

  • Commercial fit-out specialists

  • Facilities management departments within large organisations

  • Office furniture suppliers

  • Suspended ceiling and partitioning contractors

This wide-ranging experience has provided me with a deep understanding of how different sectors operate and the unique demands of each project. A significant part of my work has involved supporting facilities management teams with space planning, office restacks, internal furniture restructuring, and office refurbishments.

We regularly produce detailed furniture layout plans and space plans for office furniture suppliers, helping them deliver precise, professional CAD drawings to present to their clients. This makes us one of the best Space planning companies in Lancashire.

My journey from hand-drawn plans in the 1980s to today’s advanced digital CAD services gives me a unique perspective — blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and efficiency.

Today, all drawings and surveys are completed digitally using high-performance PC workstations and industry-leading software, including:

  • AutoCAD

  • SketchUp

  • Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom

  • 3D Vista

  • Topaz

  • And more

At Sphere Interiors, we are committed to delivering accurate, high-quality technical drawings, measured building surveys, and space planning services — on time, every time.

The world of Interior Design and Architectural Design is broad and diverse. While many people associate interior design with colours, curtains, and glossy magazine spreads, my passion has always been rooted in the more technical and architectural side of the industry.

Early in my career, I chose to specialise in technical design — a decision that opened the door to a wide range of opportunities in architectural support and commercial interiors.

By the late 1990s, I began working independently, offering reliable CAD drawing services and measured survey support to clients across the UK. It’s a path I’ve followed ever since.

For over 20 years, I’ve worked closely with one company, providing ongoing space planning and technical drawing support on a part-time basis. My work with them has included everything from office furniture layout plans and partitioning drawings to reflected ceiling plans, power and data layouts, and updates to existing AutoCAD drawings. I’ve also completed numerous measured building surveys to support property acquisitions and fit-out planning.

Alongside this, I’ve supported a variety of Design & Build (D&B) fit-out companies, delivering accurate and timely CAD survey drawings, as well as drafting services for commercial refurbishment projects.

In recent years, I launched Cre8te360 — a sister company that creates high-quality 360° Virtual Tours for commercial real estate agents and businesses across the UK. These tours are a fantastic tool for marketing properties, and they also provide me with a complete visual reference when creating as-built CAD drawings, capturing ceiling grids, room dimensions, and furniture layouts with precision.

At Sphere Interiors, my goal is simple: to deliver accurate, professional, and dependable CAD drawing and survey services for architects, designers, commercial landlords, and fit-out professionals. Whether you need measured surveys, existing layout plans, or ongoing technical drawing support, I bring over two decades of hands-on experience and attention to detail to every project.

Having started in Interior Design I soon realised that I had an eye for detail
